When D-Cells Don't Cut It

It seemed so easy in the beginning.  Sure, the stretch of Interstate 10 nearest to my home was choked with cigarette butts, fast food wrappers, beer cans, and plastic bags, but how long could it really take to clean all that up?  I figured I’d be able to round up a few volunteers from my company a couple of times a year and finish the job in an afternoon, a small price for the privilege of seeing a street sign reading “Next 2 Miles Adopted by Bullshifters Transmission Repair” every day on my way in to work!

Didn’t quite work out that way, though.  Turns out my employees weren’t too keen on burning a day off on picking up trash, especially since half of them had community service obligations already.  I ended up tackling the job myself, and let me just tell you, you really wouldn’t believe how much junk people are throwing out of moving vehicles these days.  It’s not the paper napkins that get you, it’s the rusty nails, broken glass, and industrial waste that really slows you down out there.  What I planned to finish in an afternoon took me a day and a half instead.  I was beginning to think I’d made a huge mistake.

Or at least I did before I got my RoadPro 300/600 Watt DC to AC Power Inverter!  Using the inverter, I can attach two grounded electrical outlets to the car battery inside my pickup truck by plugging it into the cigarette lighter or connecting directly to the battery terminals under the hood!  Now cleaning up the roadside by myself is a snap.  First, I went to the hardware store and bought the biggest shop vacuum they had along with about 17 extension cords.  I just plugged the inverter into my truck’s cigarette lighter, plugged the shop vac into the power inverter, and proceeded to suck up every bit of trash I saw.  Instead of picking up 600 cigarette butts by hand and throwing them in a trash bag, now I just vacuum ‘em up and keep moving.  Thanks to my power inverter, it only takes me a couple of hours to clean up two miles of highway.  Just in case there’s more trash than usual along I-10, the inverter’s low battery alarm keeps me from draining all the juice out of my truck so I don’t have to hitchhike home smelling like sweaty taco wrappers.  It’s foolproof!

In fact, my DC to AC power inverter is so handy, I’m thinking of getting one for my boat, too.  Sometimes the air out on the Gulf smells a little salty—nothing a nice air purifier couldn’t fix!

There's one review of this inverter at Amazon.com... five stars!  I like the idea of plugging my laptop into my car's cigarette lighter with it.

Pretty cool that its got alligator clips. I have a little power inverter that goes in the cigarette lighter of my car, but its not very powerful. This one I can attach to any old car battery from wal-mart and take it camping, plus its cheaper than the one I've got now. Thanks
