Shoo, Blu

It’s that simple:  I’m not sold.  Maybe it’s because my buddy was burned on his HD DVD player, but I’m not jumping on the BluRay bandwagon just yet.  For one thing, I spent that last 10 years building the ultimate DVD collection, and I’m not too thrilled about the possibility of buying “Caddyshack 2” again on BluRay disc.  My TV is 32 inches across, which is as big as I can cram into my entertainment center.  To be honest, I couldn’t see a huge difference between BluRay and DVD on a TV that size at the store.  At least, there was no difference I could see that justified spending 300 bucks for a decent BluRay player.

Hey, call me thrifty.  I found a fantastic progressive-scan DVD player that upconverts all of my DVDs to match my TV’s 1080p HD resolution online.  Now I can watch all my DVDs in HD quality without having to shell out for a fancier laser beam.  I was shopping online this week for a disc of “The Notebook” to watch on Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend.  The BluRay was $34.99.  The DVD was $7.99!  You can’t possibly tell me that the BluRay version is four times as good as the DVD with a straight face.  Thanks to my DVD player’s upconversion, she’ll never be able to tell the difference.  Why she wants to see Ryan Gossling’s beard in HD remains a mystery.

Thanks to my Desay Upconversion Progressive Scan DVD player, I can watch movies in HD for so much less money.  That leaves more money for more movies.  Did you know that “Robocop” has a Criterion Collection edition?  That’s not the sort of thing I’m going to wait to have released on a new format to purchase.  Between you and me, the bootlegs I get down at the barbershop have never looked better, either!  It even plays movies I’ve downloaded off the Net.  Not bad for $38.99!

This is the great price. I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else.

Wow, that's cheap! Timely, too, because I've been looking for a player for my bedroom. I don't need anything fancy back there. This will do nicely!

Perfect for the mancave. Cigar smoke has wrecked more than one optical laser in my garage... Won't feel too bad when this one kicks the bucket down the line!

I'm not sold on BluRay yet, either.. I seriously can't tell the difference.
