Electronics manufacturers are pretty insistent that BluRay discs represent the next evolution in home video. I can’t say I’ve been blown away, particularly for the money they’re charging. BluRays cost more than twice as much as DVDs, and frankly, they don’t look twice as good, particularly when compared to an upconverter like our deal of the day. But the price isn’t the only reason I’ve been reluctant to make the transition to BluRay. In fact, I’ve got a whole list going!
5 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Buy a BluRay Player:
1. None of my favorite movies are available on BluRay. If I want to watch “Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey” in HD, I’m busting out the DVD.
2. I refuse to own a PlayStation 3. It’s Xbox and Wii for life!
3. I simply don’t trust blue lasers. You know what else uses blue lasers? Tie Fighters.
4. I can’t afford to shell out for yet another HDMI cable. Can anyone tell me why those are so expensive, exactly?
5. I download all of my movies off of the Internet, anyway. Do they even have BluRay burners that will fit in my laptop? If they do, they’re probably a trillion dollars. No thanks.

One must learn by doing the thing. For though you think you know it, you have no certainty until you try.
