For some you, GPS navigation systems are no doubt a convenient luxury.  When traveling somewhere you’re somewhat unfamiliar with, perhaps you casually input the address into your satellite locator, calmly humming a tune as the text-to-speech function audibly directs you to your destination street by street.  Must be nice.

For some of us, however, GPS navigation is not a luxury.  It is a necessity for survival.  Much like the small percentage of persons born without a sense of smell or the capability for remorse, there are an unlucky few of us who are born with absolutely no sense of direction.  Like, at all.  I have lived in the same city for nearly a decade, and even if I have been to a particular shop, restaurant, or business MULTIPLE times, it in no way correlates with my ability to get there from wherever I am now.  Asking friends for directions is no help, either:  “Turn north,” they’ll say.  WHICH DIRECTION IS NORTH?!  Do you think I have a compass built into my watch or something?  I’m not Dick Tracy, for God’s sake, I’m a man who has no idea where he is!

For people like me, the Nextar Portable GPS Navigation System is a godsend.  Not only is today’s deal of the day affordable enough for any budget, it includes the all important text-to-speech function.  That means the device calls out the name of every street I’m supposed to turn on.  Now that I’ve got one, I can rest easy with the knowledge that never again will I have to call my mother as I fight back tears of fear asking for directions out of the ghetto at 3 a.m.  Thanks, Nextar!
