Watching video on the go has been but a distant dream for me since I swore off BitTorrent forever (Trojan horses are bad, kids).  I refuse to buy anything from iTunes on Internet Principle, and I’m way, way too lazy to figure out how to reformat DVD videos to watch on my iPod.  Basically, I’ve just been waiting around for the next big breakthrough in mobile video technology to come along and make it easy on me.

That moment appears to have come.  For only $21.99, we can now buy a device that records anything on TV on to any old memory card that I happen to have lying around.  The V-Mate is basically a 21s Century VCR, except VHS tapes never played on my computer, iPhone, or PSP the way MP4s do.  It’s going to be weird replacing my entire DVD collection with tiny memory cards, though… I may actually have to buy some books for these shelves now.
