So, if you fill up today’s daily deal to capacity with two 500 GB hard disks, you’ll be able to carry around a full terabyte of data in your backpack.  That’s pretty impressive.  If you added up everything that I’ve ever saved or downloaded to every computer that I’ve ever owned, I think the total might come out to around 8 gigs.  I can’t even really get my head around a terabyte.  Obviously, it’s 1,000 gigabytes, but how much does THAT hold?

Well, I did a little research, and I’m still not sure.  The best I can figure, if you were to fill up an entire football field with filing cabinets full of information and then stacked more and more filing cabinets on top of them until you had a gigantic filing cabinet pyramid, that might be the equivalent of a terabyte of information.

I get the usefulness of a portable hard drive that you can build to your own specs and use with multiple computers.  It’s what makes today’s deal so nice.  But an entire terabyte?  Do any of you have an entire terabyte worth of data sitting around on disks?  What does it include?  Seriously, I’m curious!
