Peripheral devices for the Nintendo Wii are always a hot item at BuyersHQ, and we’ve got another cool one today. It’s hard to look at the Rifle Light Gun for the Wii and not remember the original Nintendo light gun: the NES Zapper. Whether your Zapper was blaze orange or OG gray (represent!), it’s a safe bet that many, many ducks were felled by your trusty sidearm. Duck Hunt was unquestionably the most common (and best) light gun game for the NES, but there were a few others out there: Splat, the paintball game, and Hogan’s Alley.
Despite the Zapper’s popularity, Nintendo sort of lost their way with the light gun. They produced the Super Scope for the Super Nintendo console, but that light gun was too expensive, unwieldy, and too stupid to become popular. The company proceeded to leave light guns alone until the Wii was released. Considering the wireless point-and-click capability of the Wii remote, it was only logical that light gun games return.
There have been plenty of classic light gun games for the arcade, too, like Area 51 and Big Buck Hunter. What’s your favorite light gun game of all time?
