Is there any Christmas story more classic than “Twas the Night Before Christmas?”  Charles Dickens might make a case for “A Christmas Carol,” but that one’s pretty long.  It’s not as great for reciting just before bed on a snowy Christmas Eve than “Twas.”  That poem has been recited, retold, butchered, and parodied more than almost any other in history.  How does a Christmas tale become a classic?  How many times must it be published before it becomes part of the holiday canon?  Is it required that the story get its own stop-motion animated Christmas special first?

A Christmas story doesn’t have to be published or televised to become a classic, of course.  My family has a bunch of classic Christmas stories we tell every year, like the year my sister and I unwrapped the puppy or the Christmas Eve my dad started crying because he couldn’t put my first bicycle together.  This year will definitely be a memorable Christmas for all of us here at Buyers HQ, because it’s our first holiday together as a company.
