We all know that a laser like the one inside the RoadPro Laser Level Pro help us make things plumb and level, but is there anything that lasers can’t do?  They help our soldiers keep their assault rifles on target, they fix our eyes so that we don’t need glasses, and they even helped Luke Skywalker blow up two Death Stars.  Lasers are cool, and they are mighty.

There is one thing that lasers cannot yet do, however, and that’s protect the United States from intercontinental ballistic nuclear missiles by shooting them from outer space.  In all the time it has taken George Lucas to churn out three forgettable sequels and a couple of decent cartoon series, the Defense Department’s “Star Wars” program has languished in development.  Don’t waste your breath telling me that it was an ill-conceived boondoggle from the start or that the cost to taxpayers would be astronomical—the indisputable usefulness of the Laser Level Pro has proven the functional value of lasers beyond a shadow of a doubt. Please, my fellow Americans, I urge you to write your Congressman and demand that the Strategic Defense Initiative be moved into production immediately—before it’s too late.
